Eaton County is Hiring an Administrative Assistant - Equalization Near Independence, MI

JOB
Under the supervision of the Equalization Director, performs a variety of support functions related to the equalization process. Coordinates the preparation of various Equalization reports, enters data to computer to record and update ownership, performs property description functions and provides clerical/administrative support to department.**Applications are accepted until there are sufficient numbers of qualified applications or qualified candidate has been identified. The position could possibly close at any time.**
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Compile and verify pertinent data used in writing and preparing apportionment reports, assessment and tax rolls and other required reports.Assists local Treasurers, Clerks and Assessors in preparing required reports such as Clerks Statements, Tax Warrants, Millage Request Reports and other required reports.Coordinates the preparation and publication of departmental reports. Compiles and verifies data used in preparing apportionment reports, assessment and tax rolls and other required reports.Performs a variety of property description functions such as interpreting, writing and drawing descriptions and updating tax base maps to reflect changes in legal descriptions.Assists the public by telephone or in person, including taxpayers, banks, title companies, mortgage companies, Realtors and surveyors with assessment related issues and providing information on property descriptions, tax numbers, ownership boundaries and related information.Enters data to record and update ownership, legal descriptions, name and address changes, assessment and sales information and other data to computer. Verifies that all changes have been accurately enters.Prepares correspondence for the Director and staff, letters to people with property to be studied, statistical charts, forms and other documents for the Equalization Department.Notifies owner, attorneys, title companies and others of inconsistencies or errors in deeds so that corrective action may be taken.Coordinates the accounts payable function for the department includes completing forms for the payment of vouchers, preparing purchase orders and maintaining documentation. Maintains the time and attendance records for departmental staff, records leave balances and transmits payroll information to the Controller's Office. Requisitions office supplies.Composes and types letters in response to requests from taxpayers, local units and State Officials and others.Establishes and maintains the departmental filing systems. Processes incoming and outgoing mail.Checks, corrects and enters tax rates for each local unit to the computer. Enters data to computer and verifies millage reduction fractions. Prepares reports required by the State Tax Commission such as millage reduction fractions by unit and classification.Other Functions: None listed.This list may not be inclusive of the total scope of job functions to be performed.
