Responsibilities

The Demand Planning Manager is responsible for all forecasting activities associated with customers and products. They create and maintain forecast models, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from sales, marketing, finance, retailer replenishment analysts, and other sources (i.e.: Nielsen or other syndicated consumer data). The Demand Planning Manager is the integration point between operations/supply chain and the commercial organization.

The Demand Planning Manager establishes and manages the demand management policies, processes, work instructions and technical demand planning solution for the business. They are accountable for improving forecast accuracy and eliminating bias from demand forecasts

Essential Functions

• Reviews historical data and promotion information to predict the expected lift from future promotions
• Uses statistical techniques to analyze and improve forecast accuracy. Selects forecast algorithm and utilizes forecast input from customers.
• Develops models to predict demand for new product introductions.
• Ensures that all demands are in the formal forecasting system (INFOR DMP) and are accurately transmitted into the demand system.
• Maintains open communication links with sales, marketing and planning organizations. Proactively communicates demand plans and actual results vs the current demand plan to sales, marketing, finance and planning organization.
• Design, documents and implements effective demand management and forecasting processes including policies, processes, work process flow diagrams, work instructions, metrics, timing and responsibilities.
• Performs “what-if” scenario analysis based on price, market conditions, market share and competitive data.
• Leads efforts to achieve business goals on forecast accuracy, forecast bias, revenue and profit.
• Develops, updates and maintains all demand planning and forecasting policies, procedures and work instructions to meet the current requirements and to deliver target business results.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree in business or a technical field
• 5-10 years of CPG Demand Planning experience
• APICS certification desirable
• Highly proficient with Excel and managing large amounts of data
• Knowledge of statistics and statistical forecasting tools
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex, technical sales, marketing and logistics problems using personal knowledge, (ERP) systems and experience.
• Demonstrates a high level of ownership and initiative, engaging other functions in problem solving.
• Experience mapping and redesigning business processes.
• Experience using an integrated demand planning application to create and publish the company’s demand plan
