Jewish Federation of Cleveland is Hiring an Associate, Engagement and Planning Near Cleveland, OH

The Associate, Engagement and Planning is responsible for assessing needs and growing programs that connect young families, college students, and other groups to Jewish Cleveland. This role is responsible for stewarding and engaging young families through PJ Library, guiding college students through the Mandel Myers Fellowship, and managing a portfolio of organizational relationships focusing on experiences that impact young adults in the community.

Key functions of this position include informal and innovative program development, engagement with children, adolescents, and parents with young families, staff supervision, and the maintenance of key relationships with community partners. The ideal candidate for this position is approachable, creative, a self-starter, and passionate about engaging and working with all types of people.

This position is full-time and reports to the Managing Director, Community Planning and Allocations.

Essential Job Functions:
PJ Library Team Leader:
  • Responsible for outreach and engagement activities, small group experiences, large quarterly events, donor stewardship, community collaborations, evaluations, budgets, grant management, and oversight of subscription enrollment.
  • Supervises team of PJ Library Connectors, tracking their efforts to strategically meet metrics and desired impact.
  • Connect Clevelanders to PJ Library initiatives like Get Together Grants and PJ Our Way.
  • Responsible for monthly Young Families newsletter and social media presence.
  • Maintain regular communication with community partners like the Jewish Education Center of Cleveland (JEC), jHUB (supports interfaith couples and families), Mandel JCC, Early Childhood programs, Jewish Day Schools, synagogues, and camps to enhance communication, collaboration, resource sharing, and promotion of PJ Library.
  • Work closely with Harold Grinspoon Foundation PJ Library staff, promote Cleveland’s efforts on a national level, and attend PJ Library Conferences.
  • Coordinate outreach to new parents, new-to-Cleveland young families, and create new ways to connect them to the work of the Federation and PJ Library.
  • Manages Welcome Baby packet materials and distribution.
Mandel Myers Fellowship:
  • Responsible for overall administration of the Mandel Myers Fellowship, a professional development initiative for college-age overnight camp counselors that provides college scholarships to alleviate a portion of burden caused by student-loan debt.
  • Coordinate with overnight camps, colleges, and campus Hillels/Chabads for recruitment.
  • Partner with Jewish Family Service Association of Cleveland (JFSA) on the fellowship application process and to process grant payments.
  • Design and execute three thoughtful professional development workshops for fellows scheduled before and after the camp season.
  • Strengthen the fellows’ experience with recruitment and implementation of the Mandel Myers Fellowship Mentorship Program.
  • Annually evaluate the program and complete required reporting to the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Foundation and David and Inez Myers Foundation.
Community Planning Portfolio:
  • Manage a portfolio of organizational relationships focusing on experiences that impact young adults in the community, including Moishe House and Cleveland Hillel’s Summer Internship Program.
  • Partner with the Jewish Education Center on the administration of the Michael and Anita Siegal One Happy Camper Program, including donor stewardship.
  • Present to the Federation’s Community Planning Committee and other consistent groups, as needed.
  • Support other Community Planning projects, as needed.
Campaign Support:
  • Execute Campaign assignment and strengthen development skills to contribute to the success of the annual Campaign for Jewish Needs.

  • Experience and comfort with social media platforms, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong knowledge of Jewish and secular community resources and young family lifecycle and needs.
  • Comfortable doing outreach to diverse populations, including interfaith families, in diverse settings.
  • Ability to occasionally work during non-traditional hours, including some evenings and weekends.
Education, Training and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience in creating, designing, and implementing innovative programs for diverse Jewish communities.
  • 2 years of experience working or volunteering in a supervisory role.
