SUMMARY: Provide students and staff a clean, safe, healthy and properly maintained environment in which to learn and develop.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide skilled general maintenance and maintenance oversight of assigned facilities, grounds, warehousing and/or equipment.
  • Open and closes buildings and secures campuses on time, including checking for safety and cleaning walk ways.
  • Maintain complete HVAC system, including water treatment, filter replacement, preventative maintenance and EMS (Energy Management System) control.
  • Maintain outside walkways, playground equipment and landscaping.
  • Keep adequate supplies in classrooms, restrooms and keeps restrooms clean and maintained.
  • Arrange equipment and grounds for activities as needed.
  • Check custodial calendar for activities, plans accordingly and meets with Principal once a week.
  • Perform maintenance on electrical, plumbing, carpentry, hardware, HVAC, EMS, landscaping and record keeping.
  • Demonstrate necessary supervisory and training skills.
  • Schedule maintenance and outside contractor operations as not to interfere with instructional time.
  • Perform and maintain records of preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain all records, logs, requisitions filed and up to date; including but not limited to: roof inspections, fire inspections, health playground inspections, equipment maintenance, inventory, SFB PM's (School Facility Board Preventative Maintenance) and absence reports.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities and Assistant Director.
  • Notify Director, Assistant Director, school office staff of any unsafe or hazardous conditions.

  • Maintain and control inventory.
  • Available when called for emergencies or additional assignments.
  • Establish and maintains good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
  • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in maintenance, and custodial work required.

LICENSING:

  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Techniques and methods for organizing, prioritizing and monitoring work.
  • Standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work.

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in both the field and in an indoor office environment with moderate exposure to hazardous physical conditions (such as mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibration, etc.); moderate exposure to atmospheric conditions (such as fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, etc.); moderate exposure to hazardous materials (such as chemicals, blood and other body fluids); and moderate exposure to extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, movement restrictions and intense noise.
