SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management in supporting the human resources needs of all departments within the health center. The HR Generalist demonstrates a solid commitment to the health center’s mission, vision and core values by working cooperatively and effectively with all levels of the organization while maintaining the utmost standards of professional behavior. The HR Generalist must recognize the talent that will add value to the facility and maintain a sensitive, fair, and impartial approach to dealing with employees.
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in developing and implementing personnel policies and procedures.
2. Reviews applications and interviews applicants to match experience with specific job-related requirements.
3. Works with the CHRO in administering the compensation program; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises it as necessary.
4. Partners with employees and management to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards, and other government regulations.
5. Monitors employee eligibility for benefits plans. Reviews benefits with employees and processes enrollment, cancellation, or changes. Organizes and manages annual open enrollment communications and election process.
6. Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
7. Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
8. Responds to employee relation issues and manage and track all employee disciplinary action.
9. Advises management in appropriately resolving employee relations issues and/or escalating matters to CHRO.
10. Coaches, counsels, and guides managers before executing employee disciplinary actions.
11. Plans and conducts New Hire Orientation.
12. Reports maintains and monitors all workers' compensation case files; follows up on open cases.
13. Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.
14. Conducts exit interviews.
15. Maintains knowledge of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources administration.
16. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, immigration legislation, and affirmative action goals.
17. Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits Forms I-9.
18. Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
Experience: 5-7 years of HR generalist experience; experience in a Healthcare environment is a plus.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, consultative, and coaching skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities within a high-pressure environment.
· Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws about Human Resources Administration
· Ability to follow through, assume responsibility, maintain confidentiality, use good judgment and maintain professionalism.
Software/Hardware: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Skills & Competencies
Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related field preferred
Certification/Licensure: Professional certification in Human Resources (PHR, SHRM-CP) is strongly preferred.
Bi-Lingual: Spanish or Vietnamese or Portugese or Cape Verdean Creole
Data Analysis: Ability to pull reports and interpret data,
Payroll System Experience: Previous experience with Paylocity is a bonus
