Purpose:
The Human Resources Generalist provides a broad range of services in line with business objectives,
strategic goals, and HR initiatives. The HRG will serve as a consultant and business partner to managers,
employees, and outside agencies on all HR-related matters. Assists managers and employees in
understanding and applying HR tools in order to maximize employee’s performance, improve employee
engagement and ensure legal compliance. Services provided may include but are not limited to benefits
administration, leave of absence and worker’s compensation management, training, recruitment, and other
special projects. Relies on experience, independent judgement, and technical training to perform
specialized human resources work. Must be bi-lingual in both English and Spanish.
Job Duties:
• Provide assistance and guidance to managers on employee’s relations issues; investigations and
resolves employees relations concerns as required.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding company policies and procedures, exercising discretion and
independent judgement as necessary to resolve any issues that may arise and mitigate risk.
• Oversee benefit administration; ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting and coordination with
payroll administrator.
• Oversee leave of absence administration; in compliance with state and federal leave laws, ensure timely
proactive communication in handling these sensitive cases with the utmost care and confidentiality.
• Oversee worker’s compensation claims; ensure timely and accurate claim reporting, following up with
employee, claims department, carrier, and doctors as needed to resolve claims and implement
preventative measures.
• Participate in safety programs and ensure compliance with IIPP program.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal labor laws and regulatory requirements, exercising
independent judgement to do more than merely apply techniques and procedures.
• Responsible for complying with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/or
carry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities, exercising independent judgement to do
more than merely apply techniques and procedures.
• Monitor external human resources activities and trends.
• Stay abreast of wage and hour laws and communicate findings to ensure compliance.
• Carries out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical, confidential and professional manner.
• Other duties as assigned, exercising discretion and independent judgement in all duties.
• The HR Generalist will spend the vast preponderance of working time on administrative and professional
functions, delegating non-administrative duties to staff unless performing such duties furthers the
Purpose described above.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in HR Management of Related field required, or four years’ experience in Human
Resources position may offset degree requirements.
• Excellent written/verbal communication skills
• Ability to partner with cross functioning teams to solve complex problems
• Strong organizational abilities with a firm understanding of work prioritization techniques.
• Works well in a team environment and can excel individually.
Technical Skills:
• Proficient in Microsoft products including but not limited to Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Prior Experience with HRIS Software and software implementation experience a plus.
