We seek outstanding applicants who share our values and vision to join the team, help win elections, and build a future where everyone can thrive.The Opportunity: As Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring adherence to federal and state campaign finance regulations. Coached and mentored by a team of experienced operations professionals, you’ll support the preparation of campaign finance reports, track financial transactions, facilitate legal reviews, and develop and implement compliance task management workflows. The Compliance Manager collaborates closely with internal and external stakeholders, provides compliance training and support to team members, and contributes to strategic decision-making. This opportunity offers significant exposure to operational and political experts; strong leadership skills and experience with campaign finance regulations are essential for success in this role. This position requires some flexible hours and eagerness to assist with any task. 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the Compliance Director and greater Operations team to ensure compliance with federal and state campaign finance laws, ensuring all payables, receivables, advertisements, and scripts are properly tracked and follow internal compliance controls.
  • Support the preparation and submission of accurate and timely campaign finance reports to the Federal Election Commission and Wisconsin Ethics Commission. 
  • Work with DPW legal counsel to facilitate the legal approval process, coordinating with partners to expedite the review process when necessary.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of compliance processes and procedures, identifying areas for enhancement and implementing solutions to streamline operations, proactively addressing compliance-related challenges, and working collaboratively to develop effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with the Compliance Director on budgetary oversight, contributing to the development and monitoring of DPW's budget, and providing insights and recommendations to inform decision-making processes.
  • Provide training and develop resources for internal and external partners on campaign finance laws, compliance procedures, and accounting best practices, fostering a culture of compliance throughout the organization by promoting awareness and education.
  • On year requirements include working outside of normal work hours; including canvassing and other election-preparation as necessary.

Qualifications (Required):

  • Campaign Finance Knowledge - Experience working with State and Federal Campaign Finance Regulation and reporting.
  • Accounting/Compliance Databases - Experience using accounting, compliance, or donor databases, knowledge of NGP/EveryAction and/or QuickBooks Online (QBO).
  • Analytical Skills - Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and apply complex regulations effectively.
  • Detail Oriented - Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all compliance-related activities.

Qualifications (Preferred): 

  • 2-3 years of experience working with State and Federal Campaign Finance Regulation and reporting.
