Responsibilities:This role is within Del Monte’s Supply Chain function. This role will lead the organization’s entire warehouse, transportation, and logistics functions. The Sr. Director – Logistics will drive logistics efficiencies while optimizing service, developing current and future leaders, championing a culture of innovation, and stewarding change management. This role works closely with the Supply Chain and cross-functional leadership in the development of our logistics strategies and developing the capabilities to flawlessly execute the strategy.

A successful incumbent is expected to (i) provide overall leadership of company-owned and 3PL warehouse operations and transportation services (ii) drive operational excellence across areas of safety, quality, service and financial management (iii) implement the strategic framework for the logistics organization and best practices, (iv) Leverage metrics and analytics to assess and improve supply chain functions, (v) Optimize distribution and transportation network and determine capital needs to establish efficient operations, (vi) Develop and implement supporting systems and technology strategy for logistics. (vii). Ensure compliance Policies and Procedures which include Good Manufacturing Practices, Quality, Food Safety Systems, FSMA, and current issue of the BRC Standards throughout the distribution network.

Responsibilities include:

• Oversight and direction of Del Monte and 3rd party warehouse and labeling operations.
• Provide leadership and direction, and develop of a team of DC managers and corporate logistics professionals.
• Responsible for the development and execution of facility operations planning to include productivity and service levels, staffing requirements, seasonal operation needs, distribution center capacity, etc.
• Develop short and long-term strategies for distribution centers, track performance against these strategies to scale up our capacity, increasing our efficiency and developing our team’s capabilities.
• Develop and implement a forward-looking transportation strategy: analyze market offerings and trends, determine cost effective transportation methods, negotiate with key vendors.
• Optimize our transportation mode mix, payload, capacity, and routes-to-market while delivering outstanding service.
• Optimize ocean freight movements and partnerships.
• Develop and implement safety standards, policies, and practices are up to date and in compliance throughout the distribution network to ensure the safety of all employees, customers, and 3rd party logistics providers.
• Identify, contract, manage performance to agreed upon targets and innovate with our transportation and warehouse 3PL providers.
• Prepare, analyze, manage, and recommend proven processes to reduce time in transit, improve cost per delivery, increase percent of utilization, and ultimately improve customer satisfaction in a continuous improvement environment.
• Be accountable for achieving KPIs across safety, service, cost, inventory, and productivity while ensuring a positive work environment.
• Facilitate ideas and processes to enhance the customer experience, reduce total cost, and improve speed to customer.
• Benchmark, understand, and implement logistics best practices and systems to achieve customer service and to minimize asset / distribution related costs.
• Lead the annual budgeting process for all logistics activities.
• Protect Del Monte’s reputation by keeping information confidential.
• Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams.
• Ensure sanitation GMP's and environmental guidelines and programs are followed in sites to maintain operations and corporate compliance.
• Ensure product safety through development, review, and enforcement of company policy.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, federal and corporate food safety regulatory standards.
• Review and enforce company quality standards provided by facility, regional and corporate quality authorities.
• All other related duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• 12 years of continuous career progression in the Supply Chain management.
• Understanding of financial/accounting principles and operational budgeting.
• Proven experience in developing and managing annual operating plans (P&L).
• Proven leadership of warehouse operations.
• Proven leadership of managing transportation and logistics operations.
• Effective management of 3PL relationships.
• Proven ability to define performance measures directly related to business and hold people accountable for such.
• Demonstrates the ability to think strategically and directionally while also able to understand and account for detailed operational realities.
• Significant experience with implementing new and/or changing processes that impact cross functionally.
• Experience in network design and system and/or automation implementation is an asset.
• Six Sigma and/or Lean experience an asset.
• Deep understanding of supply chain product flows in a manufacturing and/or retail/ecommerce environment required.
• Strong strategic thinker and a strong ability to convey new concepts.
• Agile learner and ability to operate & balance risk in a fast paced, changing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to assess, design and implement supply chain systems and technologies.
• Thorough understanding of distribution, logistics network optimization, inbound/outbound transportation, and has end-to-end supply chain experience.
• Experience in continuous improvement, six sigma and lean application.
• Experience in assessing current state operating models, creating maturity models to identify areas of improvement, and executing on a plan.
• Experience with creating and using a balanced scorecard to track performance.
• Excellent customer service focus and results oriented.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer skills, including SAP, WMS, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
