Deans Professional Services is Hiring a Medical Assistant (Pediatric-Days) Near Austin, TX

Dean’s Professional Services is now hiring for qualified, patient-care focused Medical Assistant to work a pediatric outpatient clinic in the Austin, TX, area. Candidates must have at least 2 years recent back office experience as a certified/registered medical assistant and pediatric experience (especially with injections).

Medical Assistants are responsible for patient care and excellent customer service in the ambulatory setting. To assist in the coordination of flow and provider schedules to effectively manage patient care.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the collection of patient/family data that may include biophysical, psychosocial, developmental, cultural, and environmental information per practice protocol. 
  • Collects and documents vital signs, BMI, height/weight and reason for visit with 100% accuracy. 
  • Updates documentation to include if patient has received care at any other location since last visit. 
  • Documents current medications, allergies and other information per practice protocol with 100% accuracy. 
  • Tasks are measured by observation of the evaluator, feedback from providers and review of electronic health record.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology. 
  • Fundamental knowledge of pediatric assessment and treatment. Also required is knowledge of related OSHA and CLIA/COLA guidelines and requirements, general office tasks, confidentiality and filing system.
  • Ability to use thermometer, scales, sphygmomanometer/stethoscope, butterfly needles, hearing/vision screening equipment, pulse oximetry, typanometer, basic laboratory equipment, i.e., microscope, centrifuge, hematology analyzer, and specimen collection. 
  • Proficiency with treatments such as nebulizer, ear irrigation, and dressing changes. 
  • Familiarity with all business office machines, i.e., computer, multiline telephone, copier and fax machines. 
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills required

 Job Requirements: 

  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical back office medical assistant experience (externship not included)
  • Pediatric experience (especially in injections) required, must like interacting with children
  • CPR – American Heart Association BLS Required
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred
  • Medical Assistant Certification required (see below):
  • CCMA - Cert-Cert Clinical MA - CCMA via National Healthcare Association Or
  • CMA-AAM - Cert-Cert Medical Assistant via American Association of Medical Assistants Or CMA-C - Clinical Medical Assistant Certification via American Medical Certification Association(AMCA) Or EMT - Emergency Medical Techn via Texas Department of State Health Services Or EMT-A - Advanced EMT via Texas Department of State Health Services Or EMT-B - Emergency Medical Techn-Basic via Texas Department of State Health Services Or EMT-I - Emergency Medical Techn-Interm via Texas Department of State Health Services Or EMT-P - Emergency Medical Techn-Parame via Texas Department of State Health Services Or LIC PAR - Lic-Paramedic via Texas Department of State Health Services Or NCMA - National Cert Med Assistant via National Center for Competency Testing Or NRCMA - Nat Reg Cert Med Assistant via National Association of Health Professionals Or RMA-AAH : American Allied Health via American Allied Health Or RMA-AMT : American Medical Technologist via American Medical Technologist Or RMA-AAMP : American Association of Medical Personnel via American Association of Medical Personnel Or RMA-ARMA : American Registry of Medical Assistants via American Registry of Medical Assistants

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Full time-Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Pay: $21/hr benefits
  • Full benefits – healthcare, dental, vision, 401k program
  • Temporary, 3 month assignment
