South Austin Vein Center is Hiring a Medical Assistant Near Austin, TX

Job Description

South Austin Vein Center is seeking a Medical Assistant. Experience at a vein center or in a surgical/procedural setting is preferred. Applicants should be highly motivated, reliable and responsible individuals who are professional and capable of working as team members to delivery high quality care to patients.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Greet and room patients upon arrival.
  • Record patient’s medical history, medications, vital statistics and information such as test results.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications and physician instructions to patients within established parameters.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient procedures; keep rooms clean and organized, and fully stocked with supplies; maintain inventory and order medical supplies
  • Prep patients for procedures
  • Assist physician in procedures and maintain sterile technique
  • Clean exam rooms between patient visits to maintain infection control; auto-clave instrument duties
  • Triage patient calls, take questions from patients, i.e. pre-post op care or concerns, etc.
  • Medical Assistant must demonstrate a strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical abbreviations, medical allergies, medications, HIPAA compliance, medical diagnoses, and sterile technique.
  • Knowledgeable in OSHA and HIPAA compliance.
  • Patient charting in an EMR system
  • Front desk support as needed - phone triage, appointment scheduling and co-pay collection

Job Type: Full-time position

  • Monday through Friday

Required experience:

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA): 1 year experience, preferably at a vein center or in a surgical/procedural setting
  • Proficient in sterile technique
  • Excellent computer and communication skills
  • Experience with EMR
  • Insurance verification and preauthorization not required but a plus

Required certification/education:

  • CMA
  • High school or equivalent
  • BLS certification

Job Types: Full-time

Salary: $17.00 to $22.00 /hour'
