DAS Companies Inc. is Hiring a Help Desk Technician Near Palmyra, PA

Job Purpose:
The Help Desk Technician’s role is to provide local and remote end-user support for computer applications, systems, desktops and peripherals. This includes installing, configuring, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and related software. This individual provides quality support to users, employing a high degree of customer service, technical expertise, and timeliness.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Field incoming requests via our help desk portal, inbound calls, emails, and in person from both local and remote end-users.
  • Document all pertinent end user identification information and nature of the problem via the problem tracking system.
  • Record, track and document the help desk request problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution.
  • Perform analysis, diagnosis and resolution of supported system problems for end-users and remote locations. Recommend and implement corrective solutions.
  • Escalate problems (when required) to the appropriately experienced technician.
  • Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and forum documents located in-house and on the Internet to aid in problem resolution.
  • Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization.
  • Test fixes to ensure problem has been adequately resolved
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform PC, hardware equipment improvements, upgrades and repairs.
  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Maintain an inventory of all hardware and software.
  • Work with other IT staff on support resolution and system implementation.
  • Conduct research on computer products in support of PC procurement and development efforts. Evaluate and recommend hardware and software products for purchase. Track all shipments and purchases.
  • Manage project responsibilities by completing tasks on time as well as preparing appropriate project documentation.
  • Provide off-hours on-call support in a predefined rotation.
  • Adhere to departmental policies for reporting and managing requests and change control.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of PC configuration and operation.
  • Microsoft Office certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Networking a plus.
  • Willing to work off hours, weekends and on-call as required
  • Must be able to travel occasionally.
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum: Associate’s Degree in an IT related field of study.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree. In an IT related field of study is a plus.
Physical Demands/Environment:
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel or crouch; talk; hear; ability to adjust focus; work near moving mechanical parts; exposed to fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; use close vision.
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; lift and/or move up to 100 pounds; use distance color and peripheral vision; depth perception; work in wet or humid conditions and in high places; subject to vibrations.
  • The noise level is usually quiet.
