Job Summary:

Assists with the equine program and overall care of the animals at Stone Gables Estate (SGE). Provides enjoyable and safely leads trail rides for guests.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Must be able to work weekends/some holidays and occasional Sundays.
• A minimum of 2 years of consistent training in horseback riding and/or horse care.
• Must have strong people skills as this position interacts with guests.

Primary Job Duties:

• Daily feeding and care of animals.
• Grooming/tacking and leading trail rides.
• Assisting guests and their needs for the entirety of their visit.
• Reporting any sickness/lameness/wounds/or concerning issues with any of the animals.
• Willingness to learn the operation of farm equipment.
• Responsible for cleaning of the barn area and various farm chores.
• Willingness to participate with other needs throughout the property and events held.
• Assisting in guiding guests for parking, tearing down of chairs or benches, trash collection, cleaning, Kubota driving, animal handling, pony rides etc.

Physical Demands/Environment:

• Regularly required to sit or walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear; lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; use peripheral vision; depth perception; ability to adjust focus; work in wet or humid conditions and in outdoor weather conditions.
• Frequently required to stand, climb or balance; stoop, kneel or crouch; talk, smell; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; use distance vision. Subject to cleaning chemicals.
• Occasionally required to lift and/or move over 100 pounds, work in high places.
• The noise level is usually moderate.

Work Attire – Varies based on activity or event; employee will be informed of expectations. No attire may be ripped, tattered, frayed, wrinkled, stained, revealing, or excessively tight.
