Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Society, Inc. is Hiring a Director, People & Culture Near Dallas, TX

Responsible for the strategic vision of company culture, people resources & policies. In this position you will develop, drive, and execute key People & Culture initiatives such as talent acquisition, coaching & training, performance management and change management. The ideal candidate will be eager to jump in and influence change, thrive in a fast-paced environment, love a challenge, and most of all enjoy building meaningful relationships with their employees. This role will head up the IDEA initiatives that includes clear standards promoting diversity and inclusion with an environment that supports People’s well-being and engagement. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and uphold the Arboretum’s culture by building, developing and maintaining strong collaborative working relationships with management and employees across the organization.
  • Maintain and keep up to date on HR compliance and risk management.
  • Recommend, develop, update, implement, and interpret personnel policies and procedures; prepare and maintain handbook on policies and develop supervisory guidelines.
  • Guide and advise senior management through organizational design and effectiveness; drive process improvement and resource alignment while supporting the company’s goals and strategy.
  • Administer all People program initiatives, such as talent acquisition, on-boarding, offboarding, benefits, compensation management, leaves of absence, performance management, merit increases, bonuses and employee engagement.
  • Manage employee development, including promotions, succession planning, and management training.
  • Guide, coach and counsel management and staff on how to appropriately manage employee relations issues.
  • Monitor discipline, suspension, and termination documentation and procedures.
  • Develop budgets and work within approved budgetary guidelines for the department.
  • Other projects, tasks and assignments as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 7 years of progressive People/HR experience with at least 3 years of experience leading a team of People/HR professionals.
  • Current SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification
  • Must value honesty, confidentiality and discretion.
  • Experience in creating & implementing People programs, policies, and best practices.
  • Previous experience with HR systems such as ADP or similar.
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with budget development, compensation and benefits administration, employee and labor relations, talent management, employee engagement, workforce development, and organizational initiatives relating to and/or impacting human resources.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state laws that affect HR policies and procedures, including EEOC, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA and other regulatory and compliance laws.
  • Knowledge of TX Labor laws is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must feel comfortable presenting information to all levels of the company.
  • Must be proficient in problem-solving, conflict resolution, and documentation.
  • Must be able to manage/prioritize multiple tasks, work under pressure and be organized (attention to detail).
  • Available to work long hours, weekends, and/or holidays according to business needs, stand/walk in outside non-air-conditioned spaces, as well as inside, and sit or stand for long periods of time. This position is not remote and will be required to be in the office/on-site.
