DSG is seeking a Human Resources (HR) Generalist to join our HR team in Fargo, ND. As a HR Generalist, you will be responsible for applying business knowledge and human resources expertise by providing a wide range of HR support and advice. The successful candidate will play a key role in the success of the organization by offering guidance on employee relations, terminations, performance management, employee engagement, and HR best practices while facilitating a positive relationship between employees and senior management.

A Typical Day in the Life of a HR Generalist at DSG:

  • Support our managers in providing proactive guidance and coaching in employee relations related matters.
  • Work with HR team to support compliance related projects including the annual employee handbook, labor law posters, and annual and regular affirmative action reporting needs.
  • Prepare termination and separation letters and associated exit process.
  • Administer recognition program and related system.
  • Administer background check and drug screening onboarding process.
  • Maintain and update companywide job description database.
  • Provide support for the new employee orientation, on-boarding, and training programs.
  • Answer employee questions and addresses employee concerns with company; including employee safety, policy, and programs.
  • Report monthly on HR Analytics (headcount, retention, overtime, etc.)
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
  • Assist with monitoring the performance review program.
  • Maintain human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Facilitation of Work Comp claims and processes.
  • Facilitation of annual OSHA 300 reporting and posting needs.
  • Review and approve business card and name badge proofs for accuracy and brand consistency.
  • Other duties as assigned.

A Successful HR Generalist Typically Has:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in HR.
  • Experience in HR policies and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of hiring processes.
  • Previous experience facilitating workers compensation (preferred).
  • Understanding of HR best practices and current regulations.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Experience with automation and productivity tools and methodologies to improve efficiency of repetitive tasks.
  • Familiarity with MS Office suite.
  • Excellent communication skills.
