SUMMARY
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for day-to-day accounting as well as monthly financial reconciliations for key accounts in a fast-paced environment. An effective Senior Accountant will have a solid knowledge of GAAP and must be a highly organized professional with a great eye for detail. The senior accountant must be reliable and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively. The senior accountant’s goal is to keep the accounting and financial processes of the company up to standard and ensure accurate financial reporting and control.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management
Ensure accurate and timely submission of financial data for regulatory compliance.
Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts.
Monitor budgetary performance and provide variance analysis.
Collaborate with department heads to ensure alignment of financial goals with operational objectives.
Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
Provide insights into key performance indicators, trends, and financial metrics.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies.
Facilitate and coordinate external audits, ensuring timely and accurate provision of requested documentation.
Address audit inquiries and implement recommendations for continuous improvement.
Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends affecting health insurance.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and reporting obligations.
Collaborate with other departments and work cross-functionally to gather financial information and support business initiatives.
Work closely with the finance team to streamline processes and improve overall efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
Senior Accountant: 3 years’ experience preferred
Big 4 experience preferred
Prior experience with NetSuite ERP System is a plus
Proven track record as a Senior Accountant in the health insurance industry.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, statutory accounting principles, and evolving regulatory requirements.
Proficient in advanced financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
Demonstrated excellence in analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, fostering collaboration within the team.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, providing leadership and expertise as needed.
