Job Description
The Sr Accountant Controller will report to the company's Chief Executive Officer and will oversee a number of the company's day-to-day finance and accounting functions and will work with the various company departments to both support the various functions of the company as well as ensure the company is managing its resources efficiently and effectively.
Qualifications
- Accounting System - managing company's accounting system, including the chart of accounts, schedules of prepaid and accrued liabilities, journal entries, month-end closings, and running reports for management
- Accounts Payable - managing invoices and expense reports, approvals, and payments as well as credit card reconciliations and other forms of payment
Payroll - working with Human Resources to manage payroll, benefits, employee onboarding, and other related employee items
- Accounts Receivable - invoicing and collections from customers
Retail Sales Management - working with sales team to manage financial flows of e-commerce system, including merchant account, sales tax, refunds, and local jurisdiction registration and sellers permits
-Financial Planning - managing company budget and forecast model and perform periodic analyses as appropriate
- Tax - working with outside tax advisors to complete all income, sales, and other tax requirements, including periodic registration filing requirements as well as year-end tax reporting
- Other potential areas of responsibilities could include working in areas of capitalization, banking/treasury, real estate, insurance, and other duties as assigned by company management.
Additional Information
An ideal candidate shall have the following experience/credentials/experience:
- BA/BS Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Economics (Masters Degree a plus)
- 3-7 Years of Accounting and Finance Experience
- Experience in a dynamic start-up environment
- A self-starter who can own significant areas of responsibility and work with minimal direction
- Experience managing accounting systems (specific knowledge of Quickbooks is a plus)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
- Provide input into department's goal setting process
- Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
