Overview of the Job:
The receiver is responsible for receiving stock items from vendors, organizing all food storage areas, and keeping storage areas clean in accordance with the Health Code/Cura standards and procedures. Assists in inventory counting and placing orders. May also perform a variety of sanitation functions including cleaning of equipment and maintaining sanitation logs. Performs other duties as assigned.
Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
· Inspects orders received to ensure correct weight, quality, temperature and quality.
· Checks products in accordance with HACCP regulations, including rotation of stock as received (FIFO).
· Date all products individually.
· Puts orders away in a timely manner.
· Clean all food storage areas.
· Check loading dock daily and keep it clean.
· Record dry storage, cooler and freezer temperatures daily.
· Work closely with the chef and cooks to ensure that proper communication is maintained for the products needed for production.
· Assist with weekly inventory and ordering.
· Assist in catering deliveries and utility duties as needed.
· Follow cleaning schedule as provided by management, using “clean as you go” techniques.
· Maintain an open line of communication with management, informing them of products and supplies needed, shortages, miss-picks, substitutions, and quality issues.
· Performs sanitation duties as assigned.
· Interacts with patients, guests, and all others in a courteous and friendly manner.
· Practices personal cleanliness, wears clean uniforms and hair coverings as per department dress code.
· Demonstrates dependability in attendance and completion of job tasks.
· Attends meetings and training programs as required.
· Completes other duties as requested by supervisor.
Qualifications:
· Prior food service experience highly desirable.
· Ability to read, write, speak and understand oral and written directions.
· Ability to perform basic math calculations.
· Ability to organize workloads and meet time deadlines.
· Courteous, customer service attitude.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
· Lifting objects up to 50 lbs.
· Bending, reaching and grasping
· Exposure to high noise, heat and humidity levels
· Standing for long periods on hard surfaces
· Pushing, heavy wheeled carts
· Exposure to wet surfaces, water and chemicals
Job Hazards include:
Burns, cuts, slips, falls, chemical exposure and back sprains.
