HR Benefits Coordinator (aHEO)
POSITION DETAILS
Lehman College is seeking an HR Coordinator in the office of Human Resources, reporting to the Benefits Manager.
The HR Coordinator will be responsible to perform all assignments related to the smooth operation of the department and all
duties related to human resources including but not limited to:
Track Health Care eligibility for part-time employees.
Coordinate health, life, disability and retirement insurance enrollments and communicate with service providers concerning
routine administration of programs.
termination changes, disability, COBRA, and commuter plans and benefit plan changes in Payserv.
Answer employee benefit-related questions and assist the Benefits Specialist/Manager with ad-hoc reports.
Review termination paperwork and COBRA eligibility.
Assist and conduct Open Enrollment informational sessions and distribute materials for benefits orientations such as
summary plan descriptions.
Process employment verification related to pension plans.
Process Unemployment Insurance
Assist with data entry input into CUNYfirst including but not limited to post positions and leave of absences and ensure all
requests are tracked and recorded.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required
Excellent English written and oral communication skills
Proficiency in Peoplesoft, Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Highly confidential, trustworthy and dependable with excellent people skills
Experience with HRIS/Payroll Systems (Payserv)
Knowledge and experience of administering medical, dental, vision, FSA, and commuter plans
Strong analytical skills, well organized, and detailed oriented
Stay current on Federal and State regulations affecting benefit plans.
Team player with the ability to prioritize, multitask and meet deadlines
Position is expected to be in-person 70%
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Administers employee benefits programs for faculty and staff, assists in overall benefit administration, and provides employees with information regarding benefits.
Counsels and assists staff on employee benefits matters
Conducts workshops as part of new employee orientation on benefits matters
Administers selected benefits, such as COBRA coverage
Serves as a liaison to insurance carriers, retirement systems, welfare funds, and University Benefits office
Coordinates benefits processing in Payroll systems and other University systems
Prepares reports for College administration
Assists in updating materials and web pages for employee use
Maintains accurate, confidential employee records
Performs related duties as assigned.
