Cumberland County is Hiring an Administrative Assistant - Sheriff's Office Near Carlisle, PA

Job Description

To provide administrative support to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office by ensuring proper docketing and return of Civil Process in accordance with Pennsylvania Rules of Civil Procedure and accurately maintaining and reconciling financial accounts.

Position Information:

Position Code: SH3036

Five Factor Grade: 103

Salary: $17.98/hour/$35,061.00/annual

Work Hours: This position will work and be paid for 75 hours in a 2 week pay period

Job Title: Sheriff's Office: Civil Complaints/Accounting

Classification: Administrative Assistant

Current Cumberland County Employees will follow the County Promotion/Demotion policy. 

Responsibilities

  • Docket, process and maintain foreign and local civil processes in accordance with Pennsylvania Rules of Civil Procedure and prepare these cases for service by Deputies.
  • Receive and post deposits; apply sheriff's costs in accordance with Sheriff's Fee Bill; disburse monies to appropriate payees and prepare and file affidavits of service. 
  • Maintain and reconcile monthly reports of all monies received and disbursed by the Sheriff's Office; reconcile monthly bank statements.
  • Prepare annual audit reports; assist with annual audit.
  • Attends meetings and/or training sessions as required.
  • Assist with duties of other office staff in their absence.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required
  • Any other duties as assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • Associates degree preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Para legal certification preferred or equivalent work experience

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Two to four years working experience in criminal justice.
  • Accounts receivable/Accounts payable experience preferred
