Cumberland County is Hiring an Administrative Assistant- Full Time- Victim Services Division Near Carlisle, PA

Job Description

This position is responsible for the delivery of a broad array of services to all victims and witnesses of adult and juvenile offender crimes. This position also ensures victims of their rights established in the Crime Victims’ Act for victims of adult offenders and those other rights established under the law. This position is responsible for following the policies and procedures developed by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) and the Cumberland County District Attorney (DA) for Victim Services Division (VSD) personnel and services.

Minimum starting compensation: $17.98/hour or $35,061.00/year (37.5 hour work weeks)

Responsibilities

  • Provides a broad array of services to juvenile crime victims and witnesses following federal, state, and local standards including, but not limited to providing victims’ rights information, referring victims to other agencies, reminding victims of their right to submit a Victim Impact Statement and/or Restitution form, notifying victims of court dates and case dispositions, and supporting victims, witnesses, and their families when an advocate is not available.
  • Maintains and updates juvenile files involving all victims, to include the filing of important victim paperwork in the DA and VSD files, and to include maintaining statistical data counts as required by the DA and grant reporting requirements.
  • Requests and files all juvenile discovery/evidence for the DA. Redacts and distributes all juvenile discovery/evidence to defense counsel.
  • Use databases to enter information as it relates to victims, witnesses and the status of a juvenile case.
  • Generates subpoenas in PMS for juvenile court proceedings. Notifies victims, witnesses, and police of all subpoenas that are cancelled.
  • Handles the payment of office bills and purchase order requests through the Lawson System.
  • Provides telephone reception duties and provides care to walk-in clients.
  • Assists the Juvenile Court Program Coordinator in the monitoring of all juvenile offender cases where there is a crime victim.
  • Performs general office duties.
  • Attends trainings and meetings as required.
  • Maintains state and federal clearances and certifications.
  • Performs other duties as required.


Qualifications

A. EDUCATION/TRAINING: High school graduate. Experience with Windows, Microsoft software, and Microsoft Excel. Good typing skills. Must take training as required by PCCD, Human Resources and the Court Program Manager.

B. WORK EXPERIENCE: 2 years’ experience working in an office.

C. CLEARANCES: Must have completed PA State Police Response for Criminal Record Check (Employment), PA Child Abuse History Certification (Employment), Certificate of Completion of Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse (Mandated Reporting), and FBI Fingerprints Based Record Check.
