Cumberland County is Hiring an Administrative Technician (Costs and Fines) - Full Time - Clerk of Courts Near Carlisle, PA

Job Description

Position Summary: Oversees all job functions of Costs and Fines department, assuring compliance with State laws in regard to addition of assessments, sentencing costs, posting payments and disbursement of collected monies.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manager of Cost and Fines department: Participate in staff hiring. Train and supervise three department clerks.
  • Assign and distribute work, answer questions, and provide direction to staff to ensure accurate completion of assignments. Monitor staff workloads.
  • Responsible for Bank Account reconciliation and reporting of interest to the State.
  • Responsible for the addition of restitution to crime victims of criminal cases. Research returned restitution and refund checks using JNet and other address search websites. Void and reissue checks as needed.
  • . Verify all sentencing court orders from the Court of Common Pleas, ensuring fines and costs are added accurately. Correct costs and restitution from amended court orders.
  • Complete month end process to disburse collected funds to appropriate County and State departments and crime victims. Enter County report in Lawson.
  • Monitor and release held funds in Escrow and Escheat unclaimed funds to the State.
  • Process all Bail Forfeitures and Cash Bail refunds.


Other Job Functions:

  • Attends meetings and training as requested
  • Responds to inmate correspondence.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.
  • Assist with all job functions of Costs and Fines Clerk.


Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm with a 60 min lunch
