Convoy of Hope is Hiring a Senior Director - Finance Near Springfield, MO

Ministry Function

The Senior Director of Finance serves the ministry of Convoy of Hope by working directly with the Vice President of Finance and the Chief Financial Officer. They lead various initiatives related to the Finance Department, including new reporting systems, processes related to global growth, and expanded reporting and analysis. This position will also lead the accounts payable and donations teams and operations, acting as a liaison with other departments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Assists the Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer in various tasks and initiatives. This requires involvement in all areas of Finance, including systems, budgeting, reporting, finance analysis, and matters related to the global and domestic growth of Convoy of Hope.
  2. Manages the overall efficiency, internal control, and effectiveness of accounts payable operations.
    • Supervises accounts payable lead staff member and other staff members.
    • Oversees and leads the accounts payable operations and day-to-day functions.
    • Administrates related systems, and processes improvements and new technologies.
    • Ensures timely and accurate data entry and coding, including credit card entry and follow-up.
    • Implements deadlines for invoicing and payment collection processes.
    • Maintains records of invoices, deposits, and vendor correspondence.
    • Reviews and posts invoices for payment.
    • Maintains journal entries related to credit card and other requests.
    • Builds and maintains relationships with customers and vendors. 
  3. Manages the overall efficiency, internal control, and effectiveness of donations operations.
    • Supervises donations from lead staff member and other staff members.
    • Oversees and leads donations operations and day-to-day functions.
    • Administrates related systems, process improvements, and new technology.
    • Maintains integrity, consistency, and accuracy of donor activity and cash entry.
    • Monitors and reports donor activity.
  4. Liaises between other divisions and working groups.
    • Acts as the main contact related to certain initiatives, accounts payable, and donations.
    • Fields and answers questions, coordinates projects, and delegates tasks.
    • Leads and answers questions, coordinates projects, and delegates tasks.
  5. Ensures accuracy of multiple systems utilized and monitors exception reports associated with each system. Responsible for ad hoc reports and other functions.
  6. Fulfills all other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a finance-related discipline is required.
  2. Ten or more years of experience in finance-related activities is required.
  3. CPA is preferred.
  4. Accounts payable experience is preferred.
  5. Management or supervisory experience is required.
  6. Displays excellent oral and written communication skills.
  7. Manages difficult situations and individuals with tact and professionalism.
  8. Possesses strong decision-making skills.
  9. Displays detail orientation, as well as communication and listening skills.
  10. Serves as an advocate for the ministry, striving to nurture, broaden, and develop financial and other resource opportunities to support and expand organizational and program ministry.
  11. Positively represents the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statement and core values, to all outside constituencies.
  12. As a Christian organization, Convoy of Hope believes it is critical that team members embrace the organization's religious purposes for which it exists, and not only agree with its Statement of Faith but demonstrate it in their lives on an ongoing basis.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position will have direct supervisory responsibility of accounts payable and donations team members. They will oversee and work with inter-departmental personnel in work teams with varying degrees of additional supervisory responsibility.
