Job Overview:

The Director of Finance is responsible for overall operations of finance department, including review of state and federal regulations, monthly financial statements, monitoring of accounts receivable, coordination of the annual budget and serving on committees related to fiscal/billing issues. The Director of Finance works directly with the President, Executive Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, Executive Directors and Directors to render assistance in matters of a financial nature.

Duties:

  • Coordinate with independent auditors for development of cost reports and preparation of annual audits.
  • Prepare month-end and year-to-date financial reports for Finance Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Prepare month-end productivity and statistical reports and provide analysis of status for the Board of Directors, management, and providers.
  • Revise cash management policy and procedures in keeping with current accounting standards.
  • Monitor cash flow and make necessary adjustments to support payroll and accounts payable functions.
  • Supervise and direct AP and payroll functions.
  • Monitor clinical supply and equipment inventory system.
  • Submit required state-federal tax returns, 1099’s, and Workers Compensation quarterly reports.
  • Prepare applications for program participation in collaboration with EVP’s and President.
  • Conduct cost/benefit analysis of new programs in conjunction with management.
  • Keep abreast of current legislation affecting the healthcare industry; implement regulations affecting ambulatory health service delivery and community health centers, specifically.
  • Collaborate with EVP’s and President in preparation of contracts and modifications to contracts.
  • Collaborate with EVP’s and President in management decisions affecting the fiscal viability of the organization.
  • Participate in development of proposals, reports, and negotiations with funding partners.
  • Participate in community health improvement activities in keeping with mission of organization.
  • Participate in community activities/boards as a representative of management of the organization.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Seven to ten years’ experience in accounting.
  • Working knowledge of current accounting standards and systems.
  • Working knowledge of computer system operations, medical office system, accounting system, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.
  • Working knowledge of third party payer systems: Medicare, Medicaid, commercial, and Department of Health programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three to five of years in the healthcare industry preferred.
