Full time
The Vice President of Human Resources is a working generalist for our mid-sized company (500 employees), who also provides leadership and guidance to the organization's HR operations. The Vice President of Human Resources is responsible for setting, enforcing, and evaluating legally compliant human resources policies, procedures, and best practices, and identifying and implementing long-range strategic talent management goals. The Vice President of Human Resources essential duties and responsibilities:
Supervisory
· Recruits, interviews, hire and trains HR staff (3 direct reports - 1 admin, 2 management-level).
· Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
· Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
· Handles discipline and termination of teammates in accordance with company policy.
· Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
General
· Performs all generalist duties as part of our small HR team.
· Collaborates with leadership to define the organization's long-term mission and goals; identifies ways to support this mission through talent management.
· Functions as a strategic partner to the executive team to provide innovative thinking and problem solving on critical HR issues and serve as a coach for the members of the management team.
· Manages all aspects of compliance including the Employee Handbook, various reporting obligations, and required legal notifications and submissions.
· Provides consulting for people matters as they arise and is adept at coaching and influencing all levels of the organization up to and including investigations.
· Identifies ways to increase staff retention and productivity, including strategies to enhance employee engagement, leadership, and staff development, while promoting a unified organizational culture.
· Maintain current knowledge and application of all relevant laws and regulations at the local, state, and national level relating to employment and ensure organizational compliance. This includes educating and advising managers and senior leaders on HR-related legal and regulatory matters and ensuring HR programs, practices and policies are aligned. Ensure that employee files and records are properly and securely maintained.
· Researches, develops, and implements competitive compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, and employee incentive programs.
· Provides guidance and leadership to the human resource management team; assists with resolution of human resource, compensation, and benefits questions, concerns, and issues.
· Drafts and implements the budget for the human resource department.
· Complies with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) while performing all duties.
· Maintains a positive attitude and adheres to the Cooper purpose and core values.
· Completes duties on site with consistent, regular, and reliable attendance.
· Accomplishes other duties as assigned.
Requirements
The ideal Vice President of Human Resources candidate will possess:

· Knowledge of and experience with varied human resource information systems, Paylocity a plus.
Education and/or Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
· At least ten years of human resource management experience required, with strategic talent management, and/or business development experience highly preferred.
· SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP and/or HRCI certification – a plus.
· Experience working in a family-owned business a plus.
