About the Role

The Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) at The Company is a pivotal leadership role focused on fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and belonging within the college community. The CDO will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive diversity, equity, and belonging strategic plan, integrating DEI initiatives into all aspects of the college's operations, and coordinating recognition events honoring diverse cultural, ethnic, and identity groups. Additionally, the CDO will foster relationships with community organizations and local stakeholders to enhance diversity initiatives and partnerships, design and deliver training programs on cultural competency, and serve as a resource for addressing diversity-related incidents and concerns. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned champion of DEI work in higher education, with the capacity to manage complex issues, a commitment to anti-racism, and the ability to influence a broad range of audiences.Applicants for the Chief Diversity Officer position must have a Master's degree in a related field and at least five years of successful work experience in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging programs. They should possess excellent communication skills, the ability to lead large-scale programs, and the capacity to manage competing priorities. A fundamental understanding of shared governance, tenure and promotion, and the needs of students, faculty, staff, and administration with respect to diversity is essential. Preferred qualifications include specific experience in diversity work at a regionally accredited higher education institution, comprehensive knowledge of relevant laws and best practices, and an existing network of professionals in the field.
