Green Mattress is Hiring a Chief Executive Officer Near Brockton, MA

Role Overview

Green Mattress is an industrial processing business serving the recycled products and raw materials industry. The CEO will lead all areas of the business and related support operations reporting to the Board of Directors. They will lead 10-15 FTEs and contingent workers, with responsibility for operations, logistics, and coordination of sales, and for developing and executing short and long-term strategic plans to achieve the annual revenue projection, while maintaining costs and aligning with strategic and administration initiatives. The CEO will also be responsible for working with the Board and other internal and outside resources to pursue additional growth opportunities both organically and strategically.

Core Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the Board, develop & implement a growth & expansion plan for the business. Look for and drive expansion opportunities for new locations
  • Maintain an economic understanding of key business strategies, pricing, capital costs, and investment returns
  • Maintain economic analysis of client contracts & pricing
  • Understand competitive dynamics within the market
  • Understand competitor cost structure vs. Green Mattress (cost stacks)
  • Develop an understanding of the mattress recycling and waste disposal industry. Know the key industry players & clients and the drivers of their profitability
  • Drive area accountability for performance by maintaining prompt and accurate reporting systems on all aspects of plant operations including inventory, labor, production, shipping, and receiving & sales/revenue generation
  • Develop economic understanding and operational capabilities within the operational team, allowing for internal growth and personal development
  • Manage the business P&L
  • Coordinate sales, logistics, marketing, and operational activities
  • Manage administration aspects of the business, i.e. insurance, and timely financial reporting.
  • Own all workforce management responsibilities. Hire and retain talent. Review and implement employee benefits programs to attract and retain talent
  • Manage the operations of the site facility, plant supervisor, and shift leaders. Manage shift(s) for hourly (non-union) labor – 10-15 people with growth
  • Develop & maintain an EH&S (environmental, health, and safety) understanding and instill safe operating practices & discipline into all talent
  • Maintain and manage heavy processing equipment, own continued process improvement of same via implementation of LEAN operational processes, etc.
  • Develop & maintain excellent customer service capabilities

Required Skills/Abilities

  • 10 to 15 years of experience with C-level or P&L leadership production activities in a manufacturing environment, waste management experience preferred
  • 5 years of experience managing people
  • Ability to speak Spanish or Portuguese is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing process improvements, automation, and technology solutions to optimize operations with a proven track record of improving efficiency, reducing costs, and increasing profitability
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions and drive results
  • Ability to effectively manage the selection, assessment, training and development, work direction, coaching, and quality of life of the staff
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities to ensure sales, quality standards, and schedules are met
  • Ability to effectively communicate with varying audiences
  • Knowledge of and ability to develop and manage a budget, including cost accounting and the ability to initiate appropriate costing changes when conditions warrant
  • Knowledge of and ability to develop and implement safety standards and ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Knowledge of and ability to develop and implement quality standards, procedures, specifications, and corrective actions
