Description
The Personnel Cabinet offers the great opportunity to work with and serve state agencies, employees, and citizens across the Commonwealth. The Personnel Cabinet’s mission is to provide leadership and guidance to attract, develop, motivate, and retain a talented, diverse workforce; foster an understanding of, and adherence to, regulatory requirements; and create a positive, supportive work environment that values all employees.
The Department of Human Resources Administration (DHRA) oversees the administration of the Commonwealth's employment application process; creates and issues employment registers; performs state payroll functions; maintains employee personnel records; and manages the classification and state compensation system and the statewide Performance Management Program.
DHRA is seeking a part-time Administrative Specialist II to provide professional level administrative support to the Commissioner’s Office, and support the business needs of agencies throughout the Commonwealth.
Essential responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Print, bind, and assemble Human Resource (HR) training materials according to the training schedule
  • Complete training registrations and distribute correspondence associated with training to business areas and employees
  • Assist in auditing of classroom training requirements and annual training requirements
  • Assist in performance management program audit tasks
Preferred skills and abilities:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills are essential
  • Works as part of a team and offers problem solving solutions
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Time management skills
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of professional, administrative, or business experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
