Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director Government and Regulatory Affairs, Philadelphia, the Director of Government Affairs will be responsible for regulatory, franchising and public policy matters for assigned geographic area of Philadelphia. Develops and implements legislative, policy, and community strategies, monitors legislation and supports relationships with local, state, and federal officials. Coordinates and executes corporate initiatives and community affairs activities. In alignment with business strategy, provides leadership and direction for multiple functional areas. Ensures appropriate resources to achieve financial and business objectives. Influences, shapes, and integrates strategy for functional area(s).

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements strategy for government affairs and public policy issues in Philadelphia
  • Develops and maintains relationships with government representatives and regulators at the local, state, and federal levels in alignment with overall strategies Secures and maintains franchise operating authority for the company.
  • Organizes franchise renewal efforts in the assigned area, including developing and implementing franchise renewal strategies consistent with corporate guidelines; secures timely franchise renewals on acceptable terms; manages the maintenance of local franchise administration and database information; and ensures the timely delivery of franchise renewal notifications.
  • Resolves complex and/or difficult franchise renewals, franchise transfers and franchise non–compliance issues, as required.
  • Travels to attend meetings, hearings, or other events to represent the company.
  • Supports regional duties as assigned.
  • Manages outside counsel, consultants, or lobbyists to implement strategies or initiatives.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • The idea candidate will possess the following qualifications:
    • Relationship Management: Adept at the day-to-day work of maintaining relationships and messaging to external stakeholders. This includes executing and tracking email communications, hosting webinars, developing, and providing periodic updates to staff, and similar tasks.
    • Advocacy: Ability to influence, negotiate with, and build consensus with others.
    • Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with ease across teams in a complex organization, contributing to cohesive efforts to achieving advocacy strategies in support of business objectives.
    • Consistency and Reliability: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with consistently high-quality work product.
    • Integrity: Maintains the highest levels of ethical conduct and integrity
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

Education

Bachelor's Degree

While possessing the stated degree is preferred, Comcast also may consider applicants who hold some combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience.
