Job Summary:
The Controller utilizes strong analytical, technology, communication, and organizational skills to manage the Company's internal controls and monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
Essential Duties:
· Supervision and development of monthly accounting processes, procedures, and staffing for scaling a financially efficient organization.
· Timely preparation of monthly accounting reporting for CFO and Executive team.
· Analysis of monthly accounting related to budget/forecast (when applicable).
· Assist with preparation of annual budget and quarterly forecasts (when applicable).
· Management of annual financial review/audit (if applicable).
· Manage accounting for multi-unit retail, wholesaling and coffee roasting organization.
· Regular review of functions to ensure best practices.
· Identify opportunities for the company's financial benefit.
· Ensure timely payment of invoices by staff and transactional accounting function.
· Conduct business at all times with the highest standards of personal, professional, and ethical conduct.
· May participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and a maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
· Performs other duties as required.
Job Requirements:
1. Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, forecasting, financial closing process, GAAP and tax reporting, cash flow management, etc.)
2. Knowledge of business office procedures.
3. Strong working knowledge of MS Office and QuickBooks.
4. Well-organized with the ability to prioritize.
5. Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.
8. A valuable record of improving financial results.
Education Requirements and Accreditation:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
· At least 5-10 years of progressive related accounting experience required.
· Certified Public Accounting (CPA) accreditation or has completed all related requirements recommended.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s):
· All KPI’s are recorded and evaluated monthly, quarterly, and/or annually as outlined by the CFO and Executive Management.
· KPI’s may change at any time per management’s discretion.
Working Conditions:
This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, scanners, etc.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
· This is primarily a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stoop, as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to twenty pounds.
· Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
· Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.
· Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.
Supervisory Responsibility:
As needed.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position with a minimum of 40 hours per week. Regular hours of work vary due to project timelines.
