Cleveland State University is Hiring an Academic Advisor Lead Near Cleveland, OH
Leads projects to ensure students are provided with guidance on academic requirements, career options, and extracurricular opportunities. Monitors student academic and personal progress and employs intervention strategies with team as necessary. Establishes meaningful relationships with students, faculty, Cleveland State University (CSU) resources and the community. Represents CSU at various recruitment events. Mentors and trains staff members and serves on committees.Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree, preferably in Student Personnel Services, Adult Learning & Development, Counseling, Guidance, Education, or a related field of study.
Four (4) years of progressive experience in higher education academic advising, or in a student services area of a college or university.
Experience in project management and conflict resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years of advising experience at Cleveland State University.
Experience in professional development related to academic advising.
Experience working with a diverse student population.
Proficient in academic advising and planning software.
Experience in recruitment efforts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Strong organizational and excellent interpersonal skills and have a “Customer Focus” attitude and delivery.
Skilled in project management, problem-solving, analysis, follow-through, influence, and persuasion.
Possess strong public speaking skills.
Ability to motivate, coach and develop others.
Detail-oriented and capable of managing large amounts of data, maintain detailed comprehensive records, analyze and organize information, and have time management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Ability to effectively engage with team members to ensure appropriate communication and develop effective plans.
Working knowledge of student development, education policy and trends.
