POSITION OVERVIEW

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Reviews, processes and compiles various accounting transactions, i.e., payment vouchers, petty cash, requisitions, purchase orders, etc.
- Receive lien payments for street and nuisance; handle departmental transactions for cash deposits, recording and tracking of bank deposits.
- Responsible for citizen customer service with liens and assisting with monthly billing statement processing.
- Analyze transactions, do research, record, verify and enter journal entries, perform account reconciliations, cash flow analyses, and year-end closings.
- Frequent interactions with City personnel and external vendors via emails, telephone and letters as well as at meetings
- Review daily journal entry input and reconciliation to record financial activity.
- Review financial transactions including research and analysis of financial accounting and operating activities.
- Coordinates and prepares financial transactions and management reports, such as monthly projections, annual projections, journal entries and audit responses.
- Work with outside parties to resolve issues and respond to both internal and external requests for customer service.
- Provide recommendations by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses, studying proposed changes in methods.
- Develops various management reports for implementation.
- Perform other duties as requested by division and department management.
This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field.
EXPERIENCE
Two years of professional experience in finance, economics, budget analysis or a closely related field are required.
SUBSTITUTIONS
Four years of pertinent professional or para-professional experience may substitute for the education requirement.
An Associate’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a closely related field and two years of pertinent professional or para-professional experience may substitute for the education requirement.
A Master's degree in a field directly related to the job may be substituted for the above experience requirement.
