City of Denison is Hiring a Public Works Administrative Assistant - Utilities Near Denison, TX
Performs secretarial, administrative, and specialized duties involving the operation of the Public Works Department, including specific divisional support as needed. Some responsibilities are exclusive to a particular division with specialized service requirements.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The following duties are typical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competence and satisfactory performance of these duties. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Answers telephone and screens calls, relays messages and instructions
Greets and assists citizens and other visitors at City Hall
Responds to inquiries and complaints from the public
Examines and processes invoices and work orders
Orders supplies as directed by Department Director or Superintendents
Receives and routes mail
Maintains filing system for the department, including record retention and disposition according to the Texas State Records Retention Schedule
Explains divisional policies and procedures
Compiles a variety of reports as directed by the Director or Superintendents
Prepares and assists with mailouts and agenda packets
Performs data entry for department
Performs other administrative tasks for the Department Director or Superintendents as needed
Assists other Public Works Coordinator positions as needed
Receives and posts payments, billing and invoicing
Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Good knowledge of general office skills
Good knowledge of purchase orders and invoice preparation
Ability to communicate effectively with City staff, the public, and City businesses
Good knowledge of departmental and divisional software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction
Ability to maintain consistent attendance

High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Driver’s License
