Duties:

Recommends plans, policies, and programs to address community needs. Oversees departmental personnel and operations, including revenue and expenditure activities, evaluation of programs and employees, and coordination of all departmental activities. Prepares and submits annual department budget requests for the department’s program budget units, and administers budget resources upon approval. Coordinates departmental operations and programs with other local, state, and federal agencies and officials. Prepares public statements and media releases and serves as spokesperson for the department regarding highly visible and complex projects and service issues, addressing controversial public issues as needed. Responsible for annual revenue projection goals and generating income from grants, sponsorships, fees and charges for services. Supervises submission of grant applications for department and community programs. Represents department before various boards, commissions, councils and community groups, and attends regular meetings of these entities as needed. Promotes cooperation among government agencies, community organizations, and the general public to reach specific goals. Prepares annual reports and makes policy and operational changes as needed.
