Provides customer service at the front desk, maintains high customer service standards, answers telephone, interacts with staff, vendors, and customers face to face, by email, and on digital platforms; provides service and program information; responds to inquiries, and resolves issues in a calm, friendly and professional manner; and receives and distributes deliveries.
Uses a specialized and diverse array of software packages, databases, and mapping tools to research, record, and respond to customer, supervisor, and management service needs, inquiries, and requests for information. Generates necessary work orders for field crews. Refers items appropriately to other departments and escalates items as needed to supervisors and managers.
Performs a variety of clerical duties by filing, entering information into databases, generating and submitting reports, managing conference rooms, gathering, sorting and distributing mail, ordering supplies, and providing other program and service delivery support to administrative staff, field crews, supervisors, and managers. May perform basic cash handling functions, including managing petty cash, creating deposits, and verifying and processing invoices to staff for payment.
Ability to develop in-depth knowledge to understand, interpret, and accurately communicate City and Public Works programs, policies, services, schedules, and other details, particularly those related to water, sewer, solid waste, and streets service delivery, as well as handle and refer callers regarding other City Departments and services.
High School diploma or GED equivalency is required.
Two (2) years of customer service experience.
A combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work, may qualify.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
Valid Arizona Driver's License or the ability to obtain one upon hire.
Work requires the ability to read and interpret City codes, ordinances, policies and procedures, computer program information, directions, and other written communications.
Work requires the ability to perform general math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages.
Work requires the ability to write in a clear, precise, grammatically correct manner; and the ability to write customer correspondence and reports.
Must be able to work with the public in accordance with citywide and departmental policies and procedures.
The incumbent in this position must have the ability to communicate positively and professionally in person, over the phone, and in writing to provide exceptional customer service in a high-demand environment. Ability to project a positive image and the ability to handle angry and frustrated customers effectively.
Employee must maintain regular attendance. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
