Overview

Senior Human Resources Generalist (SHRG)

Summary The Senior Human Resources Generalist (SHRG) is a key team member and strategic partner. The SHRG will be responsible for the HR needs of the company and the implementation of best practices to support the achievement of overall business objectives. At this level, the SHRG will get to dive into the heart of HR and will be well versed in a variety of human resources disciplines related to solid understanding of the technical principles, critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills, and legal frameworks governing the investigation process. The SHRG works independently while effectively recognizing and leveraging opportunities to collaborate with team members and other partners to deliver sound solutions.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Acts as a liaison between employees and management to answer questions or concerns regarding company policies, practices, and regulations
  • Primarily responsible for employee relations, performance management, leadership coaching, progressive discipline, guidance, policy implementation, conflict resolution, employee engagement, and some training functions
  • Conduct workplace investigations. Coordinate the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries
  • Provide advice, assistance and follow-up on company policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Administer employee review and merit/compensation initiatives and programs
  • Involvement in diversity related projects and initiatives
  • Identify and recommend necessary policy and procedural improvements
  • Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics
  • Process terminations, conducts exit interviews, summarizes findings, and discusses trends and concerns with senior management
  • Develop and maintain employee engagement initiatives along with rewards and recognition programs
  • In this position it would be helpful to have some knowledge of payroll functions, benefit administration and leave administration
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent, college degree a plus
  • 5 years of Human Resource Generalist experience
  • PHR preferred but not required
  • Experience in the retail industry would be beneficial
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead by example and foster mentoring relationships
  • Ability to create momentum and foster organizational change
  • Strong skills in the application of investigation interviewing techniques
  • Flexible schedule based on operational needs
  • Knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines
  • Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Must be comfortable with change and be able to multi task
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and verbal and written communication skills
