Children's Aid and Family Services, Inc. is Hiring a Direct Support Professional - Awake Overnight Near Paramus, NJ

New Jersey Locations: Bergen, Passaic and Essex Counties

Schedules:

Thursday - Saturday, 11:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m./30 hours

Sunday - Wednesday, 11:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m./40 hours

As an agency, we are focused on meeting ever-evolving social needs by expanding our programs to help members of the community live their best lives.

Our Disability Support Services Group Homes Program has immediate Full-Time openings for Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to provide compassionate care and supervision to our residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities during the overnight hours of 11 pm to 9 am.

What You'll Do:

Our Awake Overnight DSP staff must remain awake and alert all night and when necessary implement approved behavior plans that are developed by our behavioral team. Must be physically able and willing to provide intimate personal care to residents in-home and in the community as needed (may include but is not limited to lifting, transferring, toileting, feeding, bathing, and dressing). Is responsible for transportation needs that might arise during the overnight hours or any early morning appointments or visits, documents daily behavior, unusual incidents, accidents and any other information that pertains to each , care. Provides vital information for the development and modification of individualized service plans (ISP), and assists and models a variety of supports (may include, but is not limited to appropriate nutrition, personal hygiene, life, and social skills, etc.). Must ensure the accurate completion of required documentation and administration of medication and completes designated shift responsibilities. Direct Support Professionals must attend all required trainings and meetings that may occur outside of their regular shift.

A mandatory 2 week training is required (Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm).

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age;
  • Must remain awake and alert all night;
  • Minimum of a High School diploma with prior experience working with children and adults with developmental disabilities and/or behaviorally challenged individuals;
  • Valid Basic driver’s license in the state of NJ and good driving history (no probationary license allowed;
  • Good writing and communication skills;
  • The employee must successfully complete and demonstrate proficiency in all areas of required training;
  • Ability to effectively work with people of diverse cultural backgrounds and races;
  • Ability to effectively work as a team member and implement positive behavioral supports;
  • Complete drug test and background checks including CARI, CHRI, the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities; and
  • Must cooperate with the licensee, Department of Human Services (DHS) staff, Department of Children and Families (DCF) staff, and any and all state representatives in any inspection or investigation.
