Chesterfield County is Hiring an Administrative Assistant Near Chesterfield, VA
High school diploma or GED; associate's degree in business, office administration or a related field preferred; five years of experience in increasingly responsible administrative support work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, and equipment; of business English, spelling, punctuation, and grammar; of principles and procedures of records management. Ability to perform a full range of varied and responsible office administrative, secretarial, and routine programmatic support functions in support of assigned programs, division, and/or department with only occasional instruction or assistance; to interpret, apply and explain administrative and departmental policies; to exercise good judgment in making routine decisions in accordance with departmental policies and procedures; to perform arithmetic calculations; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.Under general supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in paraprofessional administrative duties in support of the Chesterfield County Clerk of Court. The Administrative Assistant also: •Provides direct and confidential administrative, clerical, and secretarial support to the Clerk of the Circuit Court and other management as required. •Drafts, formats, edits, revises, and processes a variety of complex documents including correspondences, memoranda, agenda items, and data analyses. •Provides administrative support in planning, developing, and implementing the Circuit Court Clerk’s goals related to improved customer service, office modernization, and innovation. •Assists with preparing the annual budget of the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office and prepares requests for payments as well as provide support for the annual audit by helping with monthly audit preparation tasks. •Coordinates and arranges meetings, special events, and community outreach as assigned; schedules events for the Clerk and the Clerk’s Office, supports community outreach. Perform other work as required.
