Responsibility:

This position entails overseeing and executing all routine maintenance tasks across the entirety of Cherry Street Mission Ministries (CSMM) properties on a daily basis.

Purpose:

This position is dedicated to ensuring the upkeep, safety, and functionality of CSMM property; enabling efficient operations; and fostering a conducive environment for organizational activities and community engagement. Through diligent oversight and strategic planning, the Maintenance Assistant Manager contributes to our mission by creating and maintaining hospitable spaces that serve our guests.

Essential Functions:

  • Involved in all department interviews.
  • Manage day to day department scheduling.
  • Manage department time off requests.
  • Conduct 90 day/Quarterly/ Annual Evaluations for all department employees.
  • Lead department training and new hire onboarding.
  • Make recommendations on staff accountability, up to and including termination.
  • Coordinate, and participate in, the daily workflow for the Maintenance Department, ensuring tasks are assigned and completed efficiently.
  • Ensure all Maintenance Technicians effectively utilize the Maintenance On-Call phone system for timely response to maintenance issues.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to prioritize maintenance requests using E Maintenance Software, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
  • Coordinate with Contractors/Vendors, as directed by the Operations Manager, for maintenance work on Cherry Street Mechanical Equipment
  • Uphold safety standards on job sites and ensure the safety of all personnel.
  • Proactively assess the condition of CSMM facilities and assign maintenance tasks to prevent malfunctions.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as HVAC systems maintenance, plumbing repairs, electrical troubleshooting, and carpentry work.
  • Procure necessary materials, tools, and equipment for maintenance projects, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of supplies and keep job sites, maintenance shop, storage areas, office and vehicles clean and hazard-free.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of supplies so materials are kept on hand and available for efficient repairs to be made on all equipment.
  • Operate all CSMM vehicles and equipment (Minibus, box-truck, work truck/plow truck, Kubota Tractor, scissor lift, forklift, etc.).
  • Collaborate with Operations Manager to adhere to budgetary expectations.
  • Participate in weekly Maintenance team meetings, communicating and delegating project plans accordingly.
  • Works in collaboration with Volunteer Coordinator to plan, schedule, and lead volunteer maintenance service projects
  • Assist with CSMM event set-up and tear-down, under the advisement of the event planner.
  • Maintain good relationships with all coworkers, CSMM guests, donors, contractors, vendors, and volunteers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • 4 years of Building Maintenance/Construction experience required.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or Trade School required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of assistant managerial, managerial, and/or team lead experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be able to respond to after-hours maintenance emergencies and participate in the maintenance on-call rotation.
  • Must be proficient in Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry, and HVAC
  • Must be proficient in basic computer skills, especially Microsoft Suite
  • Must be comfortable operating, or learning to operate, aerial lifts, forklifts, work vehicles/plow truck, Box Truck, and other machinery needed, to complete work.
  • Must be able to lead and teach others.
  • Must be a good communicator.
  • Must be proficient in using hand and power tools required to complete work.
  • Must have proficient working knowledge of job materials available to complete work to the set standards of the ministry and in order to meet local building codes.

Licenses, Certificates, and Other Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License and acceptance onto CSMM auto insurance policy required.
  • Will need to pass forklift certification test within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Will need to pass CSMM Mini-Bus test within the first 30 days of employment.
