Description

The Middle School Engineering Teacher is a part of the Innovation and Design Department and teaches digital Fabrication classes in our Fab Lab. Ideal candidates will be able to teach across a variety of digital fabrication and programming classes as well as maintain and repair Fab Lab equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach 4 Middle School Engineering (STEAM) classes

• Help maintain and repair equipment

• Serve as a Middle School Advisor to approximately 12 students

• Attend the grade-level class trip

• Sponsor a Middle School Club

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required; Computer Science or Engineering degree preferred

• 1 year’s experience teaching required; 3 preferred

• Fab Academy graduate preferred

Working Conditions and Environment

• Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds.

• Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity.

• Frequently talk and hear.

• Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs, step stools and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders.

• Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold.

• Long or odd hours, as needed.
