The Middle School Engineering Teacher is a part of the Innovation and Design Department and teaches digital Fabrication classes in our Fab Lab. Ideal candidates will be able to teach across a variety of digital fabrication and programming classes as well as maintain and repair Fab Lab equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teach 4 Middle School Engineering (STEAM) classes
Help maintain and repair equipment
Serve as a Middle School Advisor to approximately 12 students
Attend the grade-level class trip
Sponsor a Middle School Club
Supervisory Responsibilities
None
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; Computer Science or Engineering degree preferred
1 year’s experience teaching required; 3 preferred
Fab Academy graduate preferred
Skills
Experience in a willingness to teach all levels of Middle School
Patience, enthusiasm, creativity, dedication, compassion, and respect for individual students
Promotes critical and creative thinking
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet multiple deadlines
Work as a member of a dynamic, collaborative team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to remain current in an ever-changing field
Ability to help maintain the Fab Lab and repair fabrication lab equipment, preferred

Working Conditions and Environment
Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 pounds.
Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity.
Frequently talk and hear.
Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs, step stools and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders.
Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor temperatures of heat and cold.
Long or odd hours, as needed.
