Under broad general direction, manages the organization's accounting and financial reporting activities. Primary focus is on preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and statutory reporting related to finance. Additional responsibilities include variance reporting, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and supervising other Accounting staff. This position is considered Hybrid, which means that individuals in this position may work both at an approved Offsite location and Onsite at a primary location or multiple locations based on Business Needs.
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor degree with emphasis in Business, Accounting, Economics or Health Administration PREFERRED EDUCATION: Master in Business Administration is preferredMINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Three years of professional accounting experience is required. Understanding of advanced accounting principles including financial statement reporting using both GAAP and Statutory guidelinesPREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Experience in health care or a managed care organization is preferred. Medicaid managed care experience is preferred
Medical Finance:• Responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.• Create all periodic statutory reports required by NAIC/TDI/HHSC related to Finance, using both GAAP and statutory accounting principles.• Supervise and monitor all accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial variance reporting, audits, and all financial statements. • Monitor expenses against budget and participate in corrective action planning to achieve budgeted financial results• Reconcile all financial reports and statements to source data including bank statements and vendor reports.• Collaborate with both internal and external partners to ensure proper reporting and understanding of company financials.• Collaborate with CFO and other Finance team members in the creation of business plans, budgets and financial forecasts with documented assumptions for expenses.• Supervise the development and training of accounting staff.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:• Strong knowledge and experience in financial accounting and reporting • Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of management• Critical thinking and problem solving skills with effective follow through• Solid understanding of healthcare delivery, healthcare finance and healthcare terminology including the use of diagnosis and procedure codes.• Basic knowledge of managed care financial management including actuarial principles, accounting, and statutory reporting.• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interface with a wide range of people.• Excellent math and problem solving skills with effective follow through• Strong listening, verbal, presentation, and written communication skills• Basic knowledge of managed care including medical management, network management, marketing, finance, operations, IT, and compliance • Significant knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, statistics and their applications.• Perform complex operations using Word, Excel, Power Point and use of the internet
