About the Program and Position:
Cayuga Centers’ Human Resources Department has multiple staff members, including Recruiters, Benefits Administrators, HR Generalists, and HR Assistants based in New York City or Auburn, NY.
Cayuga Centers seeks a dedicated individual for the Senior Leave Administrator to provide daily support to the staff regarding leave requests and leave approvals, partnering with a third party vendor to review and approve leave requests, including leave and disability benefit programs, including experience administering Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Paid Family Leave (PFL), short term disability, long term disability and American With Disabilities Act (ADA) and regulatory updates. The Senior Leave Administrator will be a subject matter expert and be the primary contact for all employees partnering with the HR Generalist.
THE SENIOR LEAVE ADMINISTRATOR
Under the supervision of the Deputy for Human Resources, the Senior Leave Administrator has substantial success and experience working with complex employee populations, exempt, nonexempt, and union staff, as well as third-party vendors managing the end-to-end process of staff leaves such as FMLA, PFL, DBL, ADA and LTD renewals in 8 US states.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
As a member of the Human Resources Department, the Senior Manager Leave Administrator must have:
Ability to learn Cayuga Centers programs and staff population, realistically assess program and staff needs to ensure we fulfill our mission of serving children and families.
Strong customer focus with the ability to develop trusting relationships with the Leadership Council, Employees, and HR Department, understandably communicating complex leave issues with the utmost discretion.
The ability to think independently and use discretion when evaluating the appropriate course of action for various employee leaves in partnership with senior management and the Deputy for Human Resources
Critical analysis of leave requests using their best judgment to identify, investigate, and correct problems and procedural irregularities, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions based on various circumstances.
Demonstrated agility in working in a fast-paced work environment, managing various emails, reporting, and payroll tasks simultaneously with efficiency, balancing a large and diversified workload, and navigating challenging situations.
Monitors and manages the end-to-end processes, including payroll responsibilities of the leave administration and will ensure leave management vendor service level compliance and will track outcomes
Partner with the Deputy for Human Resources to provide training and communication to the Leadership Council, management, and employees on the leave management process, policies, and procedures.
Develop leave administration process changes and implement them as needed in response to changes in legal requirements
Maintain leave administration processes documentation and manage regular reporting to identify trends in leave requests, working with the benefits team to ensure we are providing the best support to all employees during FMLA and PFL leaves
Growth mindset and the ability to manage leave specialists also partnering with benefit staff.
Schedule:
Regular hours entail 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday
