Responsibilities

The Accountant will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive accounting and reporting services. They will handle general ledger functions for assigned programs and affiliates, including bank reconciliation, monthly journal entries, and payroll management, while ensuring accurate financial statements. The preparation of claims and fiscal reports for funding sources will be a key responsibility, alongside effective communication with program directors regarding budgets and other financial matters. The Accountant will also prepare reconciliation and work papers for auditors, review disbursements and cash receipts, and maintain the accounts receivable system.

Additional Duties May Include:

• Keeping communication channels open with outside agencies
• Serving as backup for various accounting personnel are additional tasks.

This position pays $26.37 per hour. 35 hours a week, on-site.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience Required at Entry:

  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum requirement of an Associate's Degree in Accounting.
  • Relevant experience should include working in the field of financial accounting in a business, not-for-profit, or governmental environment.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

• Licenses/Certificate/Clearances:

  • Valid N.Y.S. Driver's License.

• Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word.
  • Ability to operate office equipment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to multi task while embracing change.

• Working Conditions and Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Mobility sufficient to work in an office environment.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment, including adding machines.
