Job Summary: Must have positive people skills and a can do attitude. Plan, layout and perform a wide variety of plumbing, mechanical, electrical, carpentry maintenance and installation of all types of equipment. Monitor the needed maintenance for the area(s) assigned. Perform corrective maintenance necessary to complete maintenance requests. Follow-up and initiate necessary actions needed to ensure that "all" needs for maintenance are met in a timely manner. Provide key personnel and area supervisor(s) the current status of all maintenance request(s) in a timely manner. Monitor any contract work in assigned area (s) to ensure work is accomplished properly and clean up is complete. Maintain any related documentation required; thus ensuring all maintenance requests are tracked properly. Troubleshoot, and maintain all systems within assigned area(s). Ability to read schematics and electrical and mechanical drawings. Order material needed to complete work. Perform any assigned PM duties and other responsibilities as required by your supervisor. Work with other trades as necessary to satisfy work orders and schedule demands. Keep assigned areas clean and neat in appearance at all times. Assist with scheduling utility shutdowns due to construction and or maintenance. Assist immediate supervisor with regulatory code issues. Responsible for affiliate maintenance as scheduled by immediate supervisor. Qualify for on call, weekend and off shift relief work.
Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. Must be multi-talented with at least one year of specialized training as an electrician, mechanic, plumber, carpenter II or HVAC technician. At least three additional years of experience in a hospital or industrial setting as a electrician, plumber, mechanic, carpenter II, or HVAC technician. Be familiar with electrical codes, installation methods, motors, and motor driven equipment and motor control wiring and troubleshooting, basic mechanical principals, boilers, motors, and motor driven equipment. Have a very good knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and mechanical work. Experience as carpenter also preferred, and requires experience in installation/repair of the following: suspended ceilings; floor covering; ceramic tile; door hardware. Must be able to read and understand prints, schematics and other technical drawings as required to perform duties. Capable of lifting fifty pound weight, and physically able to do the job. Electrical, HVAC or Plumbing license preferred. Have a valid North Carolina Driver's License with no restrictions other than prescription eyeglasses or contacts. Must be capable of climbing of any ladder(s) or scaffolding necessary to perform assigned duties. Must be capable of recognizing wiring color codes. Basic PC skills using Windows 95, 98, and NT preferred.
