Job Description

Job Description

The Circulation District Manager will oversee the distribution of newspaper products to contractors and ensure satisfactory delivery of products to our customers. The District Manager plays an integral part in staffing their respective districts with the highest level of contractors to ensure accurate, dry delivery of our products. The district manager also plays a huge role in customer service, addressing customer issues by phone, email, or other means, with customer retention the #1 priority.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Duties :

  1. Distribution Centers
  1. Oversees distribution of products to contractors, ensuring contractors get the correct product and correct amount of papers. Assists contractors in loading papers as necessary in carts, cars, etc
  2. Address complaints with contractors in your assigned area in a timely manner with personal communication and follow through with subscriber concerns for all products.
  3. Address any other concerns/problems that contractors are having.
  1. Districts
    1. Provide daily/weekly feedback to new and existing contractors while working with all contractors to provide ongoing support to meet service objectives.
    2. Complete Service Checks on subscriber activity, start, stops, and various delivery issues through field verification and reporting.
    3. Redelivers missed contractor deliveries (Redeliveries) when necessary.
    4. Delivers down routes when necessary.
    5. Orientates new contractors on routes as necessary
    6. Communicates with customers, returning customer phone calls in a quick, timely, and professional manner, in order to resolve customer’s complaints. Replies to all emails in a timely and professional manner.

  1. Performs other tasks as directed by Distribution Director.

Education, Experience, and Knowledge Requirements :

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Thorough knowledge of customer service – principles and processes for providing customer service including needs assessment techniques, quality service standards, alternative delivery systems, and customer satisfaction evaluation techniques.
  • Considerable knowledge of computers and working knowledge of all Microsoft software, the internet and office equipment.
  • Considerable knowledge of communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform via written, oral, and visual media.
  • Considerable knowledge of mathematics, numbers, their operations in order to count and sort products correctly.
  • Considerable knowledge of transportation, public safety and security – this includes principles and methods for safely operating a vehicle, and knowledge of local, state or national driving laws.

Licenses and Certificate Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Writing – communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Coordination – adjusting actions in relation to others’ actions.
  • Social Perceptiveness – being aware of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
  • Negotiation – bringing others together and trying to reconcile differences.

Ability Requirements :

  • Ability to work effectively with customers and coworkers.
  • Ability to communicate information both verbally and written so others will understand
  • Ability to speak clearly so others can understand you.
  • Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting or standing. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.
  • Ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp or manipulate objects.
  • Ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
  • Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or vehicle to exact positions.

Physical Requirements (Sensory Acuity; coordination, dexterity and strength) :

  • The job requires the following demands daily: hear normal conversations, see nearby and distant objects, have accurate depth perception, and speak clearly so someone else can understand what you say.
  • The job requires the following physical demands daily: bending, feeling, finger dexterity, grasping, reaching, sitting, standing, throwing, twisting, turning, walking, lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds.
  • The job requires the following physical demands more than once or twice a week: balancing, crouching, stooping and rapid working speed.
  • The job sometimes requires the following physical demands: kneeling.

Work Environment :

  • Moderate noises (business office with computer and printers, light traffic).
  • Interacts with others.
  • Daily traveling to customer locations in vehicle and exposure to outdoor weather.
  • Sometimes exposed to dust.
