Calvary Christian Reformed Church seeks an administrative assistant to support and maintain the clerical and communication functions of Calvary Church for the staff, congregation, regular attenders, and community. The number of hours may vary from week to week and season to season. The work is normally completed Monday through Friday. The administrative assistant may be asked to assist with occasional special projects as directed by the Church administrator or staff.
Responsibilities and Duties
1. Clerical
a. Perform general office work under the supervision of the Church Administrator and in collaboration with the church staff
b. Coordinate a variety of projects and publications through the year
c. Participate in printing projects including sermon materials, events, Lighthouse or Coffee Spot needs, devotional booklets, flyers
d. Update and distribute the annual paperwork for council nomination and installation of office bearers
e. Assists with the meetings and sign-ups for the Christian Education committee
f. Maintains and updates records, including the church membership directory, coordinates regular publication of the church directory and maintains the district member lists
g. Maintains the care and supply of the copy machine/printer
h. Maintains office stock for the staff and church
i. Participates as directed in the annual membership report statistics
j. Maintains and monitors membership tracking systems
2. Communication
a. Answer phones, communicate messages and maintain message recordings on phone system
b. Participate in staff meetings and contacts as directed
c. Notifies district elders and deacons of significant events for district members including but not limited to surgeries, hospitalizations, facility placement and deaths
d. Develop and distribute worship plans and update slides
e. Update Welcome Center and Fellowship room TVs for Sunday and event use
f. Facilitates the sending of flowers of spouse or family for deaths of members
g. Maintains and updates the church member/attender mailboxes
h. Partipate in the exterior road signage software including updating messages
3. Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
1. is a committed Christian, speaking freely of personal relationship with the Lord
2. has a demonstrated ability to perform the job duties as detailed above, including experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and ability to work with graphics
3. possesses discretion in regards to confidential communications and tact in working in delicate or difficult situations
4. has flexibility in work hours to support the needs of varying use of the building
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 15 per week
