California Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce is Hiring a Business Program Specialist Near Sacramento, CA

The SSBCI Business Program Specialist supports the goals and objectives of the SSBCI Technical Assistance Program operated by the California Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce (CalAsian), located in Sacramento, California. CalAsian has been selected as one of CalOSBA’s Equity Advisors within the SSBCI Technical Assistance Program Networks and will be responsible for providing culturally competent, language accessible technical assistance services.

The Business Program Specialist is responsible for working with all of CalAsian’s programs and centers, including but not limited to MBDA Business Center, Electrify California, SBTRC, and San Joaquin SBDC, to determine whether clients are eligible for SSBCI funding via the SSBCI Technical Assistance Program. The Business Program Specialist will coordinate with partner organizations, program directors, and CalAsian Chamber clients to administer the SSBCI Program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

Program Management and Reporting

  • Create and execute implementation plan to achieve program goals and objectives.
  • Develop and manage the outreach, marketing, and communications for all program activities and services.
  • Coordinate with marketing and communications department, and external vendors as needed to produce marketing collateral and promotional efforts.
  • Coordinate with the Chamber’s program directors to ensure all clients are aware of SSBCI program offerings.
  • Assist with developing program impact reports to support the quality and delivery of grant objectives.
  • Manage client intake via SSBCI platform to ensure accurate client tracking.

Coordination, Networking, and Partnership Building

  • Support the VP of Programs to develop robust partnerships with external stakeholders to advance the reach and impact of SSBCI program.
  • Engage and coordinate with SSBCI network, including Capital Readiness Network Manager, Capital Readiness Coach, Capital Providers, Technical Assistance Training Partner, and other Equity Advisors.
  • Partner with CalAsian program directors to seemlessly integrate SSBCI Technical Assistance Program across all CalAsian Centers.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to CalOSBA program staff for program updates.
  • Attend outreach events to promote CalAsian programs and technical assistance services.
  • Communicate opportunities, initiatives, and events with all existing and prospective partners in the public, private and corporate sectors.

Client Engagement and Customer Service

  • Follow up on small business client leads to provide intake for participation in the SSBCI program.
  • Conduct research for clients by connecting them to appropriate resources, technical assistance and subject matter experts to support the needs and goals of clients.
  • Work with consultants, subject matter experts, and chamber partners to identify solutions and technical assistance to help MBE and DBE clients succeed in their business goals.
  • Conduct consistent client engagement and respond to small business technical assistance needs.
  • Track and refer clients to chamber programs.

General and Administrative

  • Communicate the mission and program goals of the SSBCI to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide input and support for updates and reports to SSBCI program and CalAsian leadership.
  • Support documentation and reporting for all SSBCI-related project activities and as needed by the VP of Global and Domestic Programs.
  • Executes assignments as directed by the VP of Global and Domestic Programs.

Travel

Occasional required travel, primarily to attend mandatory SSBCI program events.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from a recognized four-year accredited college or university. Or strong work experience related to administration, grants management, and/or program management, that can be substituted for required education.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of small businesses, U.S. government reporting and planning process
  • Excellent organization skills with experience in project management, planning, and implementing events/activities
  • Outstanding attention to detail and results-oriented
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible, creative, and able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence
  • Ability to engage senior leaders and small business community members

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of work-related experience in business development, project management, and implementation of activities in domestic programs, economic development, and/or a nonprofit organization
  • Excellent project management experience with attention to detail
  • Experience in and familiarity with grant/project management approaches and techniques.
  • Adept with identifying new business opportunities to serve clients
  • Proven experience in executing a program and delivering results
  • Experience with data collection and research to develop impact reports highly desired
  • Experience with designing marketing materials for events and services highly desired
  • Proficiency in Windows-based software and willingness to learn CRM software

Primary Work Site: Sacramento, California. The CalAsian currently operates in a hybrid work environment, with the ability to either work from home or from the office, depending on project needs and employee preference. In office presence may be required for staff meetings or other needs on a monthly or more frequent basis.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $62,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
