As a Cook you'll oversee daily food service operations, including maintaining logs for refrigerator, freezer, and dishwasher usage, ensuring food meets specified standards, coordinating daily menus, and minimizing waste through efficient use of leftovers. Our ideal candidate has thorough knowledge of food preparation methods, the ability to communicate effectively with various groups, and a positive attitude towards clients.

Key Responsibilities:
Track Usage: Keep track of daily logs for refrigerator, freezer, and dishwasher usage to ensure smooth operation of kitchen equipment.
Food Quality Assurance: Ensure food meets specified standards and record it for each meal, maintaining quality and safety standards.
Menu Coordination: Coordinate daily menu by thawing and preparing frozen meat, assisting in meal preparation under supervision.
Minimize Waste: Minimize food waste and use leftovers within mandated timeframes, promoting efficiency and sustainability.
Menu Adherence: Follow menus and maintain a log for any substitutions, ensuring consistency in meal offerings.
Snack Preparation: Prepare and deliver snacks, documenting any changes, and assisting in providing nourishment to clients.
Cleaning Duties: Clean equipment, dishes, and work areas, restocking and cleaning the cafeteria, maintaining a clean and sanitary environment.
Equipment Maintenance: Report any equipment issues to the supervisor, ensuring kitchen equipment is in good working condition.
Team Communication: Communicate with coworkers and other departments to meet client needs, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
Client Interaction: Maintain a positive attitude towards clients, providing friendly and courteous service.
Supply Management: Assist with tracking and communicating supply needs to the manager, ensuring adequate inventory levels.
Meal Preparation: Prepare and serve meals according to established menus and nutritional guidelines, contributing to the well-being of clients.
Clean-Up Assistance: Assist with clean-up during and after meals and properly store leftovers, maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in the kitchen.
Meal Prep Continuity: Prep meals for the next day if supplies allow, ensuring efficient meal preparation for upcoming shifts.
Special Events Support: Prepare food for special events as requested, contributing to the success of special occasions.
Record-Keeping: Maintain records of menu substitutions and provide input on menu planning, nutrition, and resident observations, contributing to continuous improvement.
Responsibility and Accountability: Give at least 4 hours notice if a scheduled shift needs to be missed, ensuring adequate coverage and accountability.
Education and/or Experience Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of one year of employment history.
Basic understanding of nutrition is beneficial.
Additional Qualifications:
Thorough knowledge of food preparation and cooking methods on a large scale.
Ability to communicate effectively with various groups.
Positive attitude, adaptability, initiative, reliability, motivation, creativity, and cooperation.
Ability to perform basic math operations and apply logic and understanding to carry out instructions.
Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to follow direction and accept supervision.
