BronxWorks is Hiring an Outreach Worker - 4214 Near Bronx, NY

BronxWorks helps individuals and families improve their economic and social well-being. From toddlers to seniors, we feed, shelter, teach, and support our neighbors to build a stronger community. We have 60 locations throughout the borough providing a variety of programs that offer assistance in the areas of family, children and youth support, educational services, elder care, homelessness, mental health, and workforce development. BronxWorks is hiring one (1) Fatherhood Outreach Worker for the Fatherhood Center Program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct initial assessment to determine resident-client’s specific needs and create connections to needed program(s), services, and resources, while maintaining strong commitment to client confidentiality
  • Develop and maintain relationships with various community-based agencies, community groups, to obtain services for clients and stay abreast of new trends and practices in community outreach.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including availability to work some evenings, and weekends.
  • Meet all goals set by funder for Outreach Worker position
  • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent credentials is required.Associate degree strongly preferred. In lieu of degree, 2 years of relevant experience with 2 years specific to work in the nonprofit realm. 2 years demonstrated experience in related social services is preferred. Funder requirements may supersede BronxWorks requirements
  • Experience working with the targeted community or in a similar environment with the population of clients we serve; (Preferred)
  • Strong use of the English language in verbal and written communication. Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Authorization to work in the United States for any employer is mandatory.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods. 
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. 
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time. 
  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork. 
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents. 
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation. 
  • Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work. 
  • ‘TB Test required with the first 120 days of employment’
