Job Description

Genomics Platform (GP) at Broad Institute at Harvard and MIT is a world-class leader in genomic sequencing science and technology, processing thousands of samples per week and producing enormous amounts of data. The Analytics team at GP Informatics is a small team of data and software engineers who develop the infrastructure, ETLs and data visualizations to track, monitor and analyze data produced by various systems - from sample intake, through Lab processing to sequencing data analysis and data delivery.

We're seeking a data engineer who is proficient in relational databases and SQL programming, who will be wrangling data from disparate data sources to troubleshoot, develop new data sources for new processes or to improve existing ones, assist staff in query creation for day-to-day tasks and ad-hoc reporting needs, and build visualization solutions, currently with Tableau. This role will require

backend and frontend development in an ORACLE database environment and Tableau as a visualization tool, as well as backup admin support for JIRA and Tableau. The role includes collaboration and communication with other Informatics and cross-platform teams (Project and Product Managers, Lab technicians, and others).

Hybrid work with onsite requirement of minimum 2 days per week.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.

• At least 2 years of working experience in a Data Engineering role or similar with relational databases, SQL.

• Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Solid understanding of IT processes, data, and workflows.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Experience in any of the following is a plus:

• Databases MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.

• Any programming language - Python, Scala, Java, etc.

• JIRA.

• Familiar with Linux environment.
