Overview

A wonderful couple who lives in the city and likes to entertain, is seeking a full-time, top-notch chef. The schedule will be Tuesday through Saturday for lunch and dinner with flexibility for parties and holidays. Prepping of breakfast foods for the family will need to be done the night before. The couple likes to travel and there will be a travel component to the position based on their schedule. Summers are typically spent in the Hamptons, and they also have homes in Europe and on the West Coast. Please be willing to travel with the family to other locations.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to grocery shopping for healthy organic ingredients, keeping fridge and pantry items stocked, menu planning, food prep, cooking all meals requested by the family, plating and garnishing dishes in an aesthetically pleasing manner, kitchen organization and cleaning, maintenance and repair or replace as needed of kitchen appliances and tools, ordering of specialty items, maintaining stock of serving pieces, and ensuring all general aspects of kitchen management are met. There is another chef on staff and collaboration among all staff is instrumental. Sommelier experience would be greatly appreciated, but not required as the Chef will need to liaise with house managers and the wine supplier regarding the wine collection, maintaining stock, family preferences, orders, proper storage and pairing for dinners and events. Extensive experience with fine dining and as a private chef is required. The family is offering $175k to $185k, plus benefits and PTO.
